Logs & Rocks

Skill 2 of 5

Why it matters

Logs and rock gardens reward timing and line choice more than horsepower. Good technique preserves momentum and the bike.

Principles

  • Preload and lift the front, then drive the rear tire over with hips centered.
  • Eyes up; light hands; let the suspension move under you.
  • Walk rock gardens first; choose smooth, connected lines.

How to train

Start with small logs and easy, dry rocks. Build height and complexity slowly. Focus on quiet, repeatable timing.

Progress cues

Medium logs are routine; you can ride multiple clean lines through a moderate rock garden without panic revs.
