Maneuvers

Stoppies

Skill 2 of 2

Why it matters

Controlled front‑brake pressure lightens the rear wheel so you can pivot the bike in very tight spaces. It teaches sensitivity and trust in the front tire.

Principles

  • Smoothly load the front tire; eyes up; weight slightly forward.
  • Modulate release to set the rear down softly in the new direction.

How to train

Start with gentle slow‑downs to feel weight transfer. Add tiny rear‑wheel lifts on flat ground, then introduce small angle changes.

Safety

Avoid loose downhills. Keep one finger on the clutch to save the front if needed.
