Beginner Bike & Gear Guide

Skill 3 of 5

Bike choices that make hard enduro easier

  • 2T 250/300 or 4T 250/350 with electric start: tractable power and less weight.
  • Cooling and gearing: a fan kit and slightly lower gearing reduce clutch abuse.
  • Suspension: set sag for rider weight; soften compression a touch for traction.

Protection with purpose

  • Helmet, boots, knee/elbow, chest/back. Comfort drives compliance — if it hurts, you won’t wear it.
  • Bike protection: skid plate, radiator guards, handguards. These reduce trail‑ending failures.

What to carry and why

  • Tools: multi‑tool, link, plugs/tape, zip ties — fixes that keep you moving.
  • Spares: lever, master link, plug (2T).
  • Safety/comms: first‑aid, space blanket, whistle, charged phone/SOS.

Where to practice

Start in open space, then gentle slopes, then easy single‑track. Avoid traffic. Bring a buddy.
