Mental Game

Skill 3 of 3

Why it matters

The bike goes where your eyes and mind go. Nerves, frustration, and tunnel vision are part of the sport—having tools to reset gets you back to riding.

Tools you can use anywhere

  • Visualization: rehearse lines and recoveries before you ride them.
  • Breathing: slow nasal breaths or box breathing to lower arousal.
  • Cue words: simple phrases like “soft hands, eyes up” to anchor focus.
  • After‑action notes: one thing you did well, one thing to adjust next time.

What good looks like

You return to calm quickly after a mistake, choose conservative options when tired, and keep sessions fun and productive.
