Terrain and Trails
The UK’s hard enduro riding is concentrated in northern Wales and upland England. The terrain is rugged but smaller-scale: stone quarries, slate quarries, ancient woodlands and disused mines. Wales’ Valleys (near Swansea) has steep shale, muddy hill-sides and rolling pastures. England’s Pennines and Peak District offer heath moorlands and old lead mines. Scottish Highlands also have wild peat moorland, but logistics are harder.
Best Regions
South Wales is the hub – Walters Arena (near Pontardawe) is a 4,000-acre old coal mine now hosting the Valleys Hard Enduro race. Here riders tackle craggy slopes and industrial ruins. North Wales (near Snowdonia) has quarry rides (Nantlle Ridge) and sheep tracks. Central England (Staffordshire, Derwent Valley) has Enduro parks. Official enduro/motocross tracks exist (under ACU sanction).
Notable Events
